Incense, Peppermints...and also burning of Sage

There is a Native American custom of burning sage to rid places or people of any negative or unwanted energy. This is a custom that I read about long ago, when I moved somewhere that I wanted to "cleanse" of another's presence. Stay with me here...I'm not the hippy I sound like. I'm very psychosomatic. If you tell me something works, it does. That said, I burn sage whenever we move into a new home. Today I saged our new house. I learned a few new things. #1 - I have no idea what pot smells like, but I would venture to guess that Japanese sage SMELLS JUST LIKE POT WHEN IT BURNS. Seriously. Jamaican men appeared out of nowhere playing steel drums singing, "pass the duchie on the left hand side". Also, and most importantly, the smoke detectors in military base housing are really really sensitive. That is all. Blessed be PMO and the MPs of Air Station Iwakuni(*), blessed be.
